"Storm Reading" was the signature, award-winning, critically acclaimed work created during the tenure of Access Theatre. Based on the life and writings of Neil Marcus, who played himself in the show, "Storm Reading" toured for six years across the USA, to Canada and was invited to perform as a part of the British Theatre Festival in Manchester, England. This ground-breaking play was ultimately taped for television at the Lobero Theatre in 1996 and is viewed in educational settings in multiple countries. It is still available on DVD. Scenes from it appear in a permanent collection at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC on Disability Culture.

 

Media exposure included an NBC TV Special from the Kennedy Center, The Today Show with Maria Shriver, NPR's "All Things Considered," a documentarly film by Anthony Edwards titled "Speaking Through Walls," and print including The LA Times, Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, The Guardian (England) and city papers across the nation. The play won the Media Access Award, and multiple Los Angeles Drama-Logue Awards.

Sadly Neil Marcus left this earthly plane in 2021. His impact and legacy are immeasurable on the world. He made his mark -  boldly and joyfully. I am honored I was able to share an important part of his journey with him. It changed me forever. RIP Neil.
