WEST OF THE WEST
WEST OF THE WEST
Tales From California’s Channel Islands
PBS Documentary Series
I produced the World Premiere of "WEST OF THE WEST: Tales From California’s Channel Islands" at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara March 5 & 6, 2016. In addition to nearly 4,000 people attending the two public screenings, nearly 1800 students, teachers and families from 17 school districts in Santa Barbara County attended a screening sponsored by Montecito Bank & Trust.
I also coordinated the design and content of the free educational resource website for teachers based on the film: www.TeachChannelIslands.org, launched nationally in 2017. This rich and enlightening mini-series of three one-hour films continues to air on PBS Channels across the USA.
The films are engaging and enlightening “tales” told from the point of view of the people who have experienced the Channel Islands – lived on, wrecked on, dived under, filmed, raised children, bootlegged, fished, surfed, sailed, explored and restored in a remarkable saga that begins 13,000 years ago.
Filmmakers include Writer Peter Seaman, Producer Sam Tyler, and Project Originator/Cinematographer and Editor Brent Sumner. Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh narrates the film. (www.thecifilm.com)
